Dr. Robert Ricart

Dr. Robert Ricart, OD was born and raised in Millcreek where he graduated from McDowell High School. He graduated cum laude from Allegheny College with a bachelor degree in Biology and went on to receive his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1981. In 1982 he joined the practice of Dr. Robert Leitenberger. In 1985 the practice moved to 300 State Street where Bayfront Eyecare found its permanent home.

At the Pennsylvania College of Optometry Dr. Ricart was a teaching assistant in contact lenses and also interned at the Eye Institute. His other internships included one with the late Dr. Shahane Kirman, Dr. Robert Johnson in Latrobe, PA., as well as the Eye Clinic of Kimbrough Army Hospital in Fort Meade, MD.

Dr. Ricart is a member of the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association and is board certified to practice in the state of Pennsylvania. He is past president of the Northwest Optometric Association and the Greater Erie Eye and Organ Bank. He served on the advisory board of Vistakon Ophthalmics as well as the speaker’s bureau of ISTA pharmaceutical.

His specialty interests involve working with hard to fit contact lens patients and helping contact lens “drop outs” be successful. He has been in the fore-front in utilizing the latest contact lens designs and lens care options.

Dr. Ricart resides in Erie with his wife Lynne and has two grown sons, Ryan and Kevin.  He is enjoying his partical retirement by spending time with his new grandson Robbie & enjoying his new found love of pickleball.
